Community Development

An important part of our vision is a Peterborough that has inclusive public spaces and programs for people to participate, create, and connect. For more info on any of our programs, contact Tammy at tkuehne@onecityptbo.ca or 705-977-2324.

Open Arts Studio

Every Monday afternoon, we host an open arts studio where anyone is welcome to come use the materials we have to explore with different types of art. Dr. Brian Nichols leads the space.

"Art is neither a luxury nor a pursuit reserved only for the cult of the expert. Self-expression is an integral part of being human." Read more about the studio in this article published in Kawartha Now

Drumming Circle

Drumming Circles have been running for several years. Different community members take turns leading each week. The purpose of this program is to create music together, create community, increase self-confidence. We aim for drumming circles, along with all our art programs, to be a low-barrier space for self-expression.

Recording Studio

After a lot of work from volunteers, we have opened a recording studio in our office attic! Starting a couple years ago, in conversations with community members about what types of community spaces they would like to see, several shared their desire to be able to record music and podcasts. Many wanted to find a creative way to share their experiences with homelessness, criminalization, community, and resilience. We are thrilled to have this space open to the community. We have volunteers to help your ideas come to life who are available by appointment.

Peterborough Vet Outreach

We partner with Peterborough Veterinary Outreach to provide a free monthly animal wellness clinic to folks on Ontario Works or ODSP in the City of Peterborough. A licensed veterinarian, as well as vet techs and other skilled helpers, volunteer to provide this service. Normally, clinics are on the first Tuesday of each month, with sign ups the Monday before. To stay up to date, follow One City Peterborough on Facebook. To reach PVO, you can email them at ptbovetoutreach@gmail.com
