Objective
To match residents in our housing program with friendly volunteer neighbors to build connection and community in our downtown.
Tasks and Responsibilities
A man in his 60s is seeking a companion to support him getting out of the house. Ideally the volunteer would drive a car, pick up this resident from his home once per week/ once every two weeks/ once per month, and spend about an hour going to places like the pharmacy, Chumleighs, the tailor, stores to buy CDs and movies, or to Tim Hortons for coffee. This resident would also appreciate any other opportunities to be out in the community, like going to the movies, farmer’s markets or seasonal shows or events.
Commitment
1 hour/ week, biweekly, monthly
Qualifications
Volunteering with our housing support team requires a vulnerable sector check to be discussed with the program coordinator to ensure mitigated risk to our residents.
Additionally, please ensure you are able to provide the support that the resident is hoping for.
A drivers license and car is required for this position.
