Job Purpose/Summary
The Director of Operations & Infrastructure provides strategic and operational leadership for the systems, processes, facilities, and organizational infrastructure that support the organization’s programs and mission. This role is responsible for ensuring the organization has the operational capacity, physical infrastructure, administrative systems, and risk management practices necessary to sustain high-quality services and support future growth.
The Director leads organizational efforts related to facilities, health and safety, operational systems, information technology, procurement, policy implementation, organization administration, and continuous improvement. Working closely with the Executive Director and Leadership Team, they help translate organization strategy into practical systems that strengthen sustainability, accountability, and effectiveness, serving as a key organizational leader and contributing to long-term planning, organizational development, and cross-departmental collaboration. This role provides direct supervision to the Maintenance and Admin teams.

What does Success look like in this role?
At 3 months:
-
Completed all required onboarding
-
Built trust with maintenance and admin staff that you directly supervise, understanding their day-to-day realities and what they need to do their jobs well

Established a strong working rapport with the Executive Director and Leadership Team, understanding organizational priorities and where this role can have the most impact

Gained familiarity with all active vendor relationships, service agreements, and compliance obligations

Have completed an introductory audit of existing facilities, systems, contracts, and administrative processes, and begun identifying gaps, risks, and quick wins
At 6 months:
-
At least one significant operational system or process has been improved or formalized
-
Staff under direct supervision feel supported and have clear expectations

A facilities and capital planning framework is being developed alongside the Director of Development, with a clear picture of short- and medium-term infrastructure needs and priorities

Health and safety compliance is reviewed and up to date across all program sites and facilities
At 12 months:
-
Organizational operations run with greater consistency, accountability, and efficiency; the infrastructure visibly supports programs rather than slowing them down

A long-term capital and infrastructure plan is developed and integrated into organizational strategic planning

Technology and data systems have been assessed and improvements are either implemented or on a clear roadmap

The organization's risk posture is stronger: incident management, emergency preparedness, and compliance obligations are well-managed and documented

This role is functioning as a genuine senior leadership presence, contributing meaningfully to strategic decisions, modeling the organization's values, and helping the whole team operate with more confidence and capacity.
