About the Event

Please note: This is a 2-part course. You will need to register for each part separately. It is recommended that participants sign up for both parts, but if you are unable to attend both you are welcome to sign up for either one independently.


Course Description

Learning from the insights of nonviolent practitioners such as Martin Luther King Jr., Mariame Kaba, and Ivan Marovic, among others, this workshop will cover the theory, principles, evidence, and strategies involved in nonviolence as an effective pathway for systemic change. Participants will work through the topics and issues of their choice to implement the content. This course utilizes Kingian nonviolence as the foundation, while integrating learnings from a variety of organizers that are utilizing these skills today.


Objectives

  • Familiarize ourselves with the history, principles, and steps of Kingian Nonviolence.

  • Explore varying strategies and techniques from current organizers.
