Food Donation Pick-Up Volunteer

Objective

This volunteer role helps ensure a reliable supply of food for Trinity Community Centre’s drop-in meal program by picking up weekly donations from Kawartha Food Share.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Pick up One City’s cargo van at Trinity

  • Load empty food boxes for return

  • Drive to Kawartha Food Share and load food donations (with support from staff/volunteers on site)

  • Transport donations back to Trinity

  • Assist with unloading (with support from staff/volunteers on-site)

  • Follow safety guidelines

  • Communicate any issues (vehicle, scheduling, donation volume) to staff

Commitment

3 hours weekly (Wednesdays from 9:30am-12:30pm); frequency depends on the number of applicants and availability. Ideally long-term/ongoing, though shorter commitments are welcome.

Qualifications

  • Belief in mission and mandate of One City Peterborough

  • Valid G-class driver’s license and safe driving record

  • Comfortable driving a cargo van

  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs (with assistance)

  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently
